Upcoming 2012 Kidz Events:

Kids Safety Day: Saturday February 11 , 2-5 pm. Rain or shine event. Open to the public. All kids ages 0-12 welcomed. Come meet Smokey the Bear, an Eagle, Scruff McGruff, water rescue unit, and the Township of Spring Police Dept! Hotdogs and beverages will be served to the kids. Hunter Safety Course: The free two-day course will be held at the club on March 21 and 24. To register go to the PA Game Commission website at www.pgc.state.pa.us You must pre-register in order to attend the class. If you are unable to register by computer, then call Bruce Squibb at 610-775-3213. The club will serve a free lunch on the 24th.

Kids Easter Egg Hunt: Saturday, April , starting at 2:00 pm. Ages 1 - 12. Free to club members. Kids craft, hot dogs, drinks, and baked goods following the egg hunt. Contact Katrina Keyser at 610-858-2277 by April 2 to register the names and ages of the children participating, or you can email Katrina at katrinakeyser@gmail.com

Berks County Youth Field Day: Saturday, June , 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 pm at Kutztown Rod and Gun Club. Boys and girls ages 10 through 16. All free event including lunch, shirt, hat, and door prizes. To register call 610-678-7513. Each child must have an adult sponsor (adult can sponsor more then one child.)

Don Hartman Conservation School: Mohnton Fish and Game is excited to sponsor six children to this year's Don Hartman Conservation School. The school is run by the Berks County Conservation District and is in cooperation with Alvernia University. This year's topic will be Pennsylvania Wildlife. The course runs from June 25-29. Enrollment is open to boys and girls ages 14-17 (entering grades 9 thru 12 this fall). Contact the club if interested in enrolling your child. Youth Archery Field Day:

Mohnton Fish and Game hosted a youth archery field day for the Boyertown YMCA. Ten boys and girls attended the event. The day included classroom time along with target and 3-D shooting.

Family Cookout / Bonfire / Camping: Friday August 5. Spend an evening at the club with a cookout starting at 5:00pm and a bonfire at 8:00 pm. Live acoustic music. Breakfast will be available in the morning. Contact Katrina Keyser at 610-858-2277, or at katrinakeyser@gmail.com to make reservations.

Kids Costume Parade and Hayride: Saturday October , 2 pm. Rain or shine event. Open to the public. Hayride, costume parade, crafts, and prizes. Food and beverage will be served. Call Katrina Keyser at 610-858-2277 or katrinakeyser@gmail.com to sign up.

Kids Christmas Party: Sunday December , 2 pm. Members only. Kids get your picture taken with Santa along with crafts and a gift for every child who registers. Registration is required and the deadline is December 3. Call Katrina Keyser at 610-858-2277 or send email to katrinakeyser@gmail.com to sign up.

About the Youth Committee: The club has graciously allowed my wife, Meredith, and I to start a youth activities committee. We registered 70 kids for our first annual Easter Egg Hunt. The hunt was followed by a craft session in the club and free food for all the kids. This was all possible due to some very generous donations. I would like to personally thank all of the donors who helped make the day a huge success. As of October 2011, I will be stepping down as leader of the Youth Committee, but we are very fortunately to have Katrina Keyser volunteer to be the committee's new leader.
