This page covers subjects from across Pennsylvania, and beyond.
Here the 2nd Amendment joins the 1st Amendment, as well as
the rest of the U.S. Constitution and PA Constitution.
*They are coming after your rights, again --- In response to crime, usual
shouts
to take away the rights of the law-abiding.
Crime continues to be a problem in many places, including Reading, PA.
In response to crime, be prepared for the usual political shouting to punish and
take away the rights of the citizens that are law-abiding firearm owners.
*It can't happen here? --- Hurricane Katrina --- New Orleans --- 2nd
Amendment.
In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans there were numerous
reports of looting and violence. That is the type of situation when the U.S.
Constitution's 2nd Amendment can be especially important for law-abiding
citizens to defend themselves. However, the New Orleans city government
attempted to confiscate all firearms from its citizens (thus rendering them
defenseless at a critical time). Fortunately, the N.R.A. brought a lawsuit and
was successful in court restoring and protecting the right of the citizens of
New Orleans to defend themselves.
*It can't happen here? --- Will your home be the next one stolen? Have you
had enough? In Kelo case, Supreme Court says your home can be seized!
In June 2005, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in a case named, Kelo v. City of
New London, CT that homes and businesses can be seized by force and sold to some
other person who has more money than you. In other words, a gun can be pressed
against your head, and using the elite term, "eminent domain", your home, your
family business, your farm, can be seized and sold to some other person who has
more money and wants to build a new mall on your property. This ruling might
sound like something that use to happen in the old Soviet Union before it
collapsed, or in Iraq while Saddam Hussein was dictator. However, it is taking
place right here, right now, in the USA.
*Humor file --- I am in favor of Gun Control, as long as I am the one
in Control of the Gun.
